Cattle Find Tuesday Strength

Front month live cattle futures are up 47 to 95 cents at midday. Feeders are trading 37 to 97 cents higher so far. The 12/13 CME Feeder Cattle Index was 33 cents stronger at $137.68. The only USDA confirmed cash cattle sales for Monday was light $170 action for northern dressed. The FCE’s online cattle auction has 930 head of cattle listed so far, all from Texas. Wholesale boxed beef prices were stronger this morning shifting the Chc/Sel spread to $19.83 cwt. Choice boxes were up $6.33 this AM from a $34.67 increase in rib primals. Ribs were quoted at $462.99 cwt. and Choice boxes were $233.28 cwt. Select was $1.10 higher at $213.45. USDA estimates Monday’s FI cattle at 119,000 head. That’s even with the same Monday last year, and 2,000 head above last Monday.

Nov 20 Feeder Cattle are at $137.650, up $0.375

Jan 21 Feeder Cattle are at $138.575, up $0.650

Mar 21 Feeder Cattle are at $138.325, up $0.650
